Outrage! Bosnians say Orbán wants to murder Muslims
Orbán is preparing a plan for the Kristallnacht of European Muslims, says a Bosnian politician.
As Euronews reported, Viktor Orbán’s visit to Sarajevo on 25 January has been postponed due to the coronavirus situation. According to the site, however, this is only the “official” justification, as the Hungarian prime minister made statements last December that led to serious backlash in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Asked at the end-of-year Cabinet briefing about the realities of EU enlargement in the foreseeable future, the Prime Minister said the following:
“I will do my utmost to convince Europe’s great leaders that, although the Balkans may be further away from them than from Hungary, how we solve the security of a state with two million Muslims is a key issue for their security as well.”
As a direct reaction to this statement, the next day, Bosnian opposition parties called for Orbán’s planned visit to Sarajevo to be cancelled. What is more, the leader of the local Islamic community described the prime minister’s words as xenophobic and racist.
“Orbán – through Dodik – is preparing the Kristallnacht of European Muslims”, says Šemsudin Mehmedović, a Bosnian member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina legislature.
To demonstrate how horrible this vision is: Kristallnacht was the night of nightmares for Jews in Germany on 9 November 1938. On that night, the Nazis robbed, vandalised, and destroyed 267 synagogues and burned down 7,000 Jewish-owned shops. Hundreds were killed that night, and many committed suicide. Shortly afterwards, 30,000 Jews were deported to concentration camps.
According to Mehmedović, the key issue in the region is not Bosnia but the EU’s attitude towards the emerging radical right-wing movements, including Dodik, Orbán, and Janša, and, in general, towards all those who threaten Europe’s political stability. As he wrote, despite the views of the Hungarian Foreign Minister, Bosnia and Herzegovina does not play a key role in the region. Instead, it is the European Union and its attitude to genocide that matters.
A key role is played by the EU’s response to Orbán’s policy of treating the Bosnian indigenous population as a problem of integrating two million Muslims.
“We are not immigrants, but – unlike Orbán, Dodik, and their ilk – indigenous European people. They are not integrated into the values of civilisation but are on the side of evil,”
wrote Šemsudin Mehmedović in his post.
Mehmedović concluded by writing that “it is clear for everyone that Orbán is a mobiliser of the European forces that are preparing the Kristallnacht of Muslims”.
